Mysuru: A legal awareness programme for students was organised by District Legal Services Authority (DLSA) at Government High School in Kuvempunagar here yesterday. A Legal Awareness Club was also inaugurated on the occasion. Commemorating World Environment Day, the programme was inaugurated by Principal District and Sessions Judge and DLSA Chairman S.L. Krishnappa Vontigodi by planting two saplings.
Speaking on the occasion Vontigodi observed that the infrastructure at Government Schools had drastically improved compared to yesteryears. He opined that increase in population would increase the problems too resulting in necessity of legal awareness among people. He added that the Intelligence Quotient (IQ) of children was very good now who can be made aware of legal issues.
Vontigodi suggested teachers to conduct debates and essay competitions among students on simple legal matters to improve the grasping power on the subject.
DLSA Member-Secretary Mohammed Muzeerulla, Government PU College Principal M.L. Chidanand Kumar, High School Vice-Principal M. Prakash, Head Master of Higher Primary School Srikanta and others were present.
