Mysuru: Government Chief whip in the Legislative Council, Ivan D’Souza, who also head a Monitoring Committee on spending of Christian Minority Welfare Funds, held a progress review meeting at the CSI Wesley Church on B.N. Road here this morning.
Later speaking to presspersons, Ivan D’Souza said that the Government has allotted Rs. 175 crore for Christian Community Development and the committee headed by him, has been entrusted with the task of ensuring that all funds under various schemes reach the beneficiaries.
Explaining the benefits to the community under various housing and other Government schemes, he said that the community has sought establishment of an exclusive Christian Development Corporation. The other demands include proper political representation in accordance with the community’s population and adequate allocation of funds for the community’s welfare in the State Budget, among others, he said and added that he had found that the funds have been used appropriately in most of the districts that he had toured so far.
