Legislative Council Polls: Ban orders from 5 am till midnight on June 3; 6 am on June 6 till 5 am on June 7

Mysore/Mysuru: With the voting for the Legislative Council polls from South Teachers, South West Teachers and South West Graduates Constituencies scheduled to take place on June 3 and the subsequent counting of votes to be taken up on June 6, the City Police Commissioner, as a precautionary measure,  has clamped prohibitory orders from 5 am till midnight on June 3 and again from 6 am on June 6 to 5 am on June 7 in city limits.

Accordingly, no victory procession of candidates, bursting of crackers at public places and in front of houses, entry of unauthorised persons to the counting centre and gathering of more than five persons in groups in 200 mts. radius of the counting centre has been banned.

This apart, holding of functions or meetings, carrying of explosives and other such articles and weapons, taking out processions, making provocative speeches, use of loud speakers and DJ and taking out bike and other vehicle rallies too have been prohibited.

However, this order is not applicable to functions such as marriages, conduct of last rites and school and college exams, according to a press release from the City Police Commissioner.

Casual leave on June 3

Meanwhile, the State Government has declared casual leave for voters on June 3 so as to allow them to exercise their franchise.

The polling is scheduled to take place from 8 am to 4 pm. The South Teachers Constituency covers the districts of Mysuru, Mandya, Hassan  and Chamarajanagar.

IDs required to vote

The voters, whose names find mention in the electoral rolls, shall have to compulsorily carry any one of their Identity cards such as Voter ID card, Aadhaar card, Pan Card, Driving                                        License, Indian Passport, Identity cards issued by Government Institutions and establishments, original Degree Certificates issued by Universities etc., for taking part in the voting, according to a press release issued by the Office of the Regional Commissioner, Mysuru.
