Legislative Council polls:  South Teachers Constituency records 88 percent voting

Voters waiting for their turn to cast their votes for the Legislative Council election for South Teachers Constituency at Kanaka Gurupeetha College of Education in Kuvempunagar this morning.

Mysore/Mysuru: The Legislative Council polls from Karnataka South Teachers Constituency held yesterday, saw a high poll percentage of 88.07  percent.

Out of 21,549 voters, 18,979 voters including 10,894 men and 8,085 women exercised their franchise. The Constituency comprises the districts of Mysuru, Hassan, Chamarajanagar and Mandya.

After the polling came to an end at 4 pm yesterday, the ballot boxes were brought to Maharani’s College of Science on JLB Road and kept in the strong rooms. Counting of votes will be taken up on June 6.

Apart from South Teachers Constituency, five other Constituencies went to the polls yesterday — Bengaluru Graduates, North-East Teachers, South-East teachers, South-West teachers and South-West Graduates, with the last two of them comprising the districts of Kodagu, Udupi, Dakshina Kannada, Shivamogga and Chikkmagalur and parts of Davangere. Counting of votes of all these Constituencies too would be taken up on June 6.
