Sir,
I see a lot of discussion nowadays regarding letting rain water into Underground Drainage (UGD). While some of the suggestions are indeed good, the first priority should be given to ensure water from the terrace is not let into UGD. [Please refer to my letter which was published in ‘Star of Mysore’ dated Jan.19, 2021 which highlighted the issue of senior citizens facing lot of inconvenience.]
Lack of storm-water drain (SWD) is an issue across Mysuru but how logical is it to stress the already weak UGD with rain water? Every time it rains heavily, our house is filled with UGD water in the bathrooms and despite several assurances no one has really bothered to fix the root cause of the issue.
The only option for us is to demolish and reconstruct our house which would mean that the water will stop entering our house but will start entering someone else’s house. Is that fair?
I want to ask the new MCC Commissioner, is there no fix to this problem? Why is it that most of the rules framed by MCC like plastic ban, flex ban etc., just remain on paper?
