Mysore/Mysuru: ‘Librarians Day‘ will be celebrated at the Department of Library and Information Science, University of Mysore, tomorrow (Aug. 9) at 11 am.
Librarians Day is celebrated on the birth anniversary of Dr. S.R. Ranganathan who is known as the ‘Father of the Library Movement in India.’ It is an annual celebration that pays tribute to the invaluable contributions made by librarians and information professionals in fostering knowledge dissemination and academic excellence. It also serves as an occasion to reflect on the evolving role of libraries in the digital era.
The event, jointly organised by the Department of Studies (DoS) in Library and Information Science and Sarada Ranganathan Endowment for Library Science, promises to be a remarkable gathering of experts, scholars, and library enthusiasts.
Distinguished speakers, including Dr. N.G. Satish, former Professor, Institute of Public Enterprise, Hyderabad, will deliver insightful talks on the urgent need for radical library transformation in the digital age.
Prof. M.S. Sapna, Chairperson, Department of Mass Communi-cation and Journalism, will be the guest of honour. V.R. Shylaja, Registrar, University of Mysore, will preside.
