Mysore/Mysuru: Mysuru- based theatre artiste and Film Director Dr. K. Ramesh Kamat has been selected for the prestigious Lifetime Achievement Award-2022 given by Karnataka Rajya Konkani Sahitya Academy.
Ramesh Kamat, who was born and brought up in Mysuru, studied at Pune’s Film and Television Institute of India (FTII). He produced and directed the first Konkani film “Janamana” in 1980 and actively took part in theatre activities in city from 1960 – 1980. Later, Kamat was appointed as Director of Jawaharlal Nehru Planetarium in Bengaluru. After establishing Ranjana Arts in 1973, he has performed more than 50 Konkani plays across the country.
Incidentally, Ramesh, who has been bestowed the award on his 70th birthday, will receive the same at a programme to take place at Kashimutt in Malleswaram, Bengaluru, tomorrow (Sept. 18). The award carries a cash prize of Rs. 50,000 and a citation.
