Two arrested; Accused to be produced before Magistrate this evening
Mysore/Mysuru: A liquor party has ended with the double murder of construction workers on Bogadi Main Road in Saraswathipuram Police limits yesterday night and the Police have arrested two persons in this connection.
The murdered victims are Krishna (30) and P. Ravi (30), residents of Kothegala village in Hunsur taluk. The two had come to Mysuru along with others and were working as labourers for the works taken up by MUDA. The labourers had pitched tents on a vacant site on Bogadi Main Road and were staying there.
Yesterday night, a few labourers had a liquor party and while chatting with each other, wordy duel ensued between them and in a fit of rage, one of them picked up an iron sphere (haare) and hit Krishna and Ravi, killing them.
Mahesh, the accused and his friend have been arrested in the case. It is learnt that while conversing under the influence of liquor, one of them raised the issue related to Mahesh’s wife who was being eve teased frequently. In a fit of rage, Mahesh is said to have hit the two with the iron sphere resulting in their death.
DCP (Law and Order) Pradeep Gunti, K.R. Sub-Division ACP Poornachandra Tejaswi, Saraswathipuram Inspector Thimmaraju and staff visited the spot last night, conducted an inspection, shifted the bodies to MMC&RI mortuary for post-mortem and took the two accused into custody for questioning.
DCP Gunti said that two persons were murdered with an iron sphere following wordy duel between them and the accused at a vacant site on Bogadi Main Road yesterday night. Two persons have been arrested in this connection, he said and added that more details will be known only after interrogating the accused, he added.
Today morning, Saraswathi-puram Police, fingerprint unit and the dog squad visited the crime spot. Post-mortem was conducted this morning and the bodies were handed over to the family members.
Police sources said that the accused will be taken to the spot for spot inspection this afternoon and will be produced before the Magistrate today evening.
