Book ‘Basavaraju Kukkarahalli Kathaloka’ released
Mysuru: “Literature does not mean only writing but it should carry messages of social relevance,” said senior littérateur K. Veerabhadrappa.
He was speaking after releasing the book ‘Basavaraju Kukkarahalli Kathaloka’ edited by Dr. Neelagiri Talawar and Dr. N. Yogesh, at Kuvempu Institute of Kannada Studies (KIKS) in Manasagangothri here recently.
Literature is based on inner-conscience which makes others’ life beautiful. If one thinks why should anyone write stories it is for their own happiness and to keep the mind fresh, he said.
Veerabhadrappa also mentioned that there was need for writers to come out with works questioning the caste system and revolutionary stories and added that the writers from rural background had contributed immensely for the world of literature.
Critic Dr. H.S. Raghavendra Rao, KIKS Director Dr. Priti Srimandharkumar, writer Abdul Rashid, Basavaraju Kukkarahalli, Dr. N. Yogesh, Dr. Nilagiri Talawar, Bhavani Sanjay of Vijayalakshmi Prakshana and others were present.
