Mysore/Mysuru: In a late night operation on Thursday, the Lokayukta Police trapped a CESC (Chamundeshwari Electricity Supply Corporation) Engineer while he was allegedly accepting a bribe of Rs. 2 lakh inside his car near the Hinkal Flyover on Hunsur Road in city.
Ashok, Assistant Executive Engineer (AEE), CESC, who is working at Kushalnagar in Kodagu district, is the one who was trapped by the Lokayukta. Ashok was caught red-handed when he was accepting Rs. 2 lakh bribe from an Electrical Contractor late on Thursday night. The accused Ashok had allegedly demanded Rs. 5 lakh bribe to issue permission to set up a 49 KV Electric Charging Station at Kushalnagar.
Following a complaint from the Contractor Pratap at Madikeri Lokayukta Police Station on June 8, Lokayukta Police, under the guidance of Mysuru Division Lokayukta SP S. Suresh Babu, carried out a swift operation and trapped Ashok while he was accepting Rs. 2 lakh bribe money as advance. Accused Ashok has been arrested and an investigation is on, according to the Police.
