Bengaluru: In an expression of support to the nationwide stir called by Trader and Merchant Unions, lorry owners have called for a strike on Feb. 26.
Addressing press persons here on Feb. 15, Karnataka Lorry Owners Association President Shanmugappa said that more than 10 lakh traders and merchants across the country will shut shop on Feb. 26 in protest against GST E-Way Bill Policy.
Accordingly, the Association has called for a lorry strike on Feb. 26 in support of the traders, he said.
Expressing concern over rising fuel prices, he said that the Association will consult all other transport organisations on launching an indefinite stir after Mar. 3 in protest against rising fuel prices, which has badly hit the transport industry. However, a clear picture on the nature of nationwide lorry strike will emerge after the talks, he added.
