New Delhi: The price of cooking gas (LPG) was hiked by Rs. 1.50 a cyclinder yesterday in line with the Government’s decision to raise rates every month to eliminate subsidies by March.
The hike comes on the back of the increase by Rs. 7 per cylinder effected from Sept.1.
Petroleum and Natural Gas Minister Dharmendra Pradhan had on July 31 told the Lok Sabha that the Government had asked State-run oil firms to raise subsidised cooking gas prices by up to Rs. 4 per cylinder every month so that all subsidies can be removed by March, 2018. Jet fuel or ATF price was also hiked on Sunday by a steep 6% on firming international rates, the third straight increase in rates since August. This is the third consecutive monthly hike in ATF price, the last being by 4 percent on Sept.1.
