Mysuru, Sept. 7 (MTY&VNS)- Sri Chamundeshwari Temple atop Chamundi Hill will open to the public at 8 am tomorrow for darshan, following cleansing rituals after tonight’s lunar eclipse.
The temple will close as usual at 8 tonight. Special pujas will be performed by the Temple priests when the penumbral eclipse begins at 8.58 pm and again after it ends at 2.25 am.
Meanwhile, Sri Lakshmi Venkataramanaswamy Temple on KRS Road in V.V. Mohalla will close to devotees at 1.30 pm today ahead of the eclipse and reopen at 7.30 am tomorrow.
As per Hindu tradition, with the lunar eclipse occurring late at night, all temples will remain closed during the eclipse and reopen the next day after cleansing rituals.
The renowned Sri Cheluvarayaswamy Temple and Sri Yoganarasimhaswamy Temple at Melukote will close at 1 pm today and reopen at 9 am tomorrow after performing abhisheka to the deities.
Sri Bhagandeshwara Temple at Bhagamandala in Madikeri and Talacauvery Temple will close at 5 pm today. The Temple authorities have also announced the cancellation of the mass Sri Satyanarayana Puja ahead of the eclipse.
