Mysuru: A youth, who was doing odd jobs for a living has been cheated of Rs.2 lakh by conmen, who had promised him a job in the Navy. The cheated youth is Manjunath, a resident of Ramakrishnanagar, while the conmen are Narasimharaju and Kumar, both residing near the house of Manjunath.
Details: Manjunath, after completing his SSLC, discontinued his studies and was doing small jobs for a living and was staying with his mother. In the meantime, he came to know about Narasimharaju, who was living near his house. Narasimharaju told him that he would get him (Manjunath) a job in the Navy.
Narasimharaju, who met Manjunath’s mother, told her that if she could arrange Rs.2 lakh, he would get Manjunath a Government job. He then took Manjunath to an office in K.G. Koppal and introduced him to Kumar.
Happy that her son would get a Government job, Manjunath’s mother took Rs.2 lakh loan and gave it to Kumar and Manjunath.
After receiving the money, they (Narasimharaju and Kumar) told Manjunath that the Navy office was in Mumbai and took him there and made him stay at a house there. The duo, who made Manjunath to stay there for three months took him to various offices during the period and later told him that he would receive the appointment letter through post and brought him back to Mysuru.
As no appointment letter came through post even after three months of Manjunath coming back from Mumbai and his mother was paying interest for the loan, Manjunath and his mother met Narasimharaju and Kumar and asked him to get a job or pay back Rs.2 lakh, they had taken.
But Narasimharaju and Kumar not only refused to give back Rs.2 lakh but also threatened them of dire consequences if they ask for a refund. Doubting that the duo had cheated him, Manjunath filed a complaint with Saraswathipuram Police, who have registered a case under IPC Sections 420, 504, 506 and 34, besides launching a hunt to nab Narasimharaju and Kumar.
