M. Yogendra for Asian Athletics Championship

Mysore/Mysuru: M. Yogendra, retired Superintendent of Central Tax and Customs and Secretary of Mysore Athletics Club, has been selected to represent the country at the 23rd Asian Masters Athletics Championship to be held from Nov. 5 to 9 in Chennai.

He will be participating in the 2,000 mts Steeplechase race in above 60 years category.

Yogendra has represented India in the World Masters Athletic Championships held at Brazil, Australia and USA and has performed well and gained valuable exposure competing with athletes from different countries.

He has also taken part in the 20th Asian Masters Athletic Championship-2017 at Rugao in China and had won two bronze medals in the Men’s 55-plus category. 

A long-distance runner, Yogendra has represented Mysore University in All India Inter-University Athletic Championships for five years, represented Karnataka in All India Inter-State Athletic Championships six times and won several medals.

He has also represented Central Excise & Customs in Central Revenue Sports in South Zone and National level.

He has represented India 11 times in the International Masters Athletic Meet.

In all, Yogendra has won 60 gold medals, 50 silver and 48 bronze medals in his 46-year sports career.
