Maharani’s College canteen contractor ordered to vacate

Mysore/Mysuru: Karnataka Public Places Authority’s District Court has ordered the canteen contractor of Maharani’s Science College on JLB Road to vacate the canteen as she was running the canteen even though the contract period had ended.

A rental agreement from 2017 to 2022 was made to run the canteen by taking a security deposit of Rs. 21,300 and a rent of Rs. 7,100 was fixed.

But instead of 58 months, the canteen contractor had paid rent for only 26 months and had also not paid the electricity bill of 52 months amounting to Rs. 2.6 lakh.

Meanwhile, the College Principal had instructed the tenant Prabhavati (canteen contractor) to pay remaining rent and power bill and vacate the canteen. But Prabhavati had filed a case at the Civil Court and had not vacated.

Meanwhile, the College Principal knocked the doors of Karnataka Public Places Authority’s District Court.

The Court, which took up the case, ordered Prabhavati to pay a total of Rs. 5.03 lakh (pending rent Rs. 2,43,800, power and water bill of Rs. 2.60 lakh) and hand over the canteen to the Head                                                              of the College.

District Public Prosecutor Umesh Kumar argued on behalf of the College.
