Bengaluru: The Special Court for People’s Representatives on Monday granted conditional bail to former Minister B. Nagendra arrested on charge of multi-crore scam at Karnataka Maharshi Valmiki Scheduled Tribes (ST) Development Corporation Ltd.
In the order pronounced on Monday, the Court has ordered Nagendra to furnish a personal bond for Rs. 2 lakh and a surety of two persons.
It may be mentioned that the Enforcement Directorate (ED) that is probing into the multi-crore scam at Valmiki Corporation had arrested Nagendra in July 2024.
A 4,970-page charge-sheet had been submitted to the Court over embezzlement of Rs. 187 crore related to the Corporation, along with a 144- page complaint.
While Nagendra was listed as Accused-1 in the charge-sheet of ED, Special Investigation Team (SIT) that had investigated into the same scam, had omitted the name of Nagendra in its charge-sheet, that had sparked a wide debate.
Following the Court order, Nagendra, who is currently in judicial custody at Parappana Agrahara Central Prison, is expected to be released from the jail anytime today.
