Mahashivarathri celebrations at Suttur Srikshetra

Mysore/Mysuru: As part of Mahashivarathri festival, special programmes have been organised at Suttur Srikshetra on Mar. 8.

Special pujas will be held from 6 pm to 6 am at Adi Jagadguru Sri Shivarathreeshwara Shivayogi Gaddige. Special pujas will also be held at Sri Mahadeshwara, Sri Someshwara,  Sri Veerabhadreshwara, Sri Nanjundeshwara and Sri Narayanaswamy Temples. Shivadeeksha and Silver Chariot procession within the Mutt premises will be held at 7 pm and 9.30 pm respectively.

H.S. Raghavendra Rao and family of Hosakote will donate silver shield to the doors of Sri Nanjundeshwara Temple.

At the Gaddige premises, events like cultural programmes by JSS Residential School students will be held at 5.30 pm. This will be followed by devotional songs by Ruthvik C. Raj and team from Mysuru at 8 pm. Mythological play ‘Bhookailasa’ by JSS B.Ed College students at 10 pm, ‘Shivakatha Sankeerthana’ by Dr. Lakshmandas Shastry at 11 pm, ‘Bhaktisudhe’ by Nadalahari troupe from Mysuru at 1 am, ‘Madeshwara Kathana’  by Sri Siddappaji Neelagarara Sangha of Ramasamudra at 3 am and Bhajans by Sri Basaveshwara Bhajana troupe of Horalavadi will be held at 5 am.

Continuous Akhanda Bhajan programmes by various bhajan troupes will be held at Sri Mutt and Gaddige from 6 am on Friday to 6 am on Saturday.

Special Amavasya puja will be held on Mar. 10.

The Mutt has appealed devotees and the general public to participate in Mahashivarathri celebrations in large numbers.
