‘Maintain personal hygiene to be free from intestinal worms’

District Rural Children’s Health Officer Dr. L. Ravi has urged children and adults to undergo regular deworming and stay healthy. “Intestinal worm infection would adversely affect physical and mental well being in humans by causing malnutrition and anaemia. Maintain personal hygiene and keep your surroundings clean,” he said. 

He was speaking after inaugurating National Deworming Day programme at Christ Public School, BEML layout in city on Monday, organised by District Administration in association with District Health and Family Welfare Department and Zilla Panchayat. 

District Health and Family Welfare Officer Dr. Dr. R. Venkatesh advised the children to take Albendazole tablet once in every six months.

School Principal Fr. V.M. Jinosh, Taluk Health Officer Dr. Mahadev Prasad, District Family Welfare Department Officer Dr. Siraj Ahmad, DDPI Uday Kumar, Women and Child Development CDPO Geethalakshmi and medical officers of  Rashtriya Bal Swasthya Karyakram were present. A total of 6,69,247 children from various schools colleges and Anganwadis were administered the drugs.
