Sir,
Being a responsible senior citizen of Mysuru, I wish to draw the attention of our City Police Commissioner to the traffic issues plaguing the city. The traffic signals at busy junctions such as V.V. Mohalla, Kuvempunagar, Ramakrishnanagar and other circles are not functioning properly. I have observed that many auto drivers and two-wheeler riders blatantly disregard traffic rules, riding as they please without any concern for road safety.
In the absence of functional traffic signals and CCTVs, motorists are driving recklessly in their own styles, causing inconvenience to the public, particularly ambulances that frequently use these main roads.
I urge the authorities to install traffic signals wherever necessary and deploy Police personnel to monitor traffic. This being the year-end month, the vehicular rush is naturally higher, both day and night, compared to other months.
Tourists are flocking to Mysuru to celebrate their year-end programmes. It is imperative that the authorities take immediate precautions to avoid hazardous accidents and ensure smooth and safe travel on our roads.
