Malabar contributes 1,00,000 free COVID-19 vaccines

Kozhikode: With a mission to strengthen the fight against COVID-19, Malabar Gold & Diamonds, the leading jewellery retailer with a strong global retail network of over 260 outlets spread across 10 countries, has decided to contribute 1,00,000 free COVID vaccines.

The vaccines will be administered for inoculating people who are vulnerable to the disease with limited access to the vaccine apart from jewellery artisans, employees, investors and their dependents.

This initiative is part of a series of CSR initiatives Malabar Gold & Diamonds have been working on during the COVID-19 pandemic, following the Government’s decision to intensify the vaccination drive.

“As the country is battling a resurgent wave of COVID-19 cases, vaccination has become extremely important to prevent the pandemic spread. This initiative is the first step in our contribution to the nationwide vaccination drive. We will use our services and infrastructure to reach out to and vaccinate those who are most vulnerable to the disease. This includes the elderly and those with chronic illnesses who will be identified through charitable associations and likeminded organsations. We have earmarked Rs. 8 crore for the vaccination drive”, said M.P. Ahammed, Chairman,                Malabar Group.

The vaccination drive will be held at both the company premises and through tie-ups with leading hospitals administering WHO-approved vaccines. In addition to contributing free vaccines, Malabar Gold & Diamonds is also undertaking several initiatives to support the vaccination drive, which includes educating employees about the importance of getting vaccinated as well as following the safety protocol by addressing their concerns, sharing information to help them simplify and navigate the vaccination process etc.
