Malfunctioning of AI camera in city: Car driver gets notice for not wearing helmet !

In addition to the high-resolution cameras that are presently used to catch traffic violators in Mysuru city, 25 Artificial Intelligence (AI)-based cameras will be installed at places where traffic density is high.

Mysuru: A car driver was in for a shock when he received a message on his mobile phone asking him to pay fine for not wearing a helmet.

It is compulsory for the driver and co-passenger to fasten seat belts and the driver and co-passenger will be penalised for not wearing them.

But a car driver has received a message on his mobile phone which stated that he had violated traffic rule by not wearing a helmet while driving near Rammanahalli Circle on Mahadevapura Road for which he has to pay a fine of Rs. 500.

There are many instances of such mistakes and there is no clarity whether the Artificial Intelligence (AI) cameras were functioning properly or not.

A few officers say that the AI cameras are on trial basis and once the AI camera click the photo of the violation, a message is sent immediately to the registered mobile phone number of the vehicle owner.

Public have urged the authorities concerned to issue a clarification in this regard.
