Mysuru: The District Administration is all geared up for mega celebrations of International Day of Democracy tomorrow (Sept. 15) in Mysuru, said Deputy Commissioner G. Lakshmikanth Reddy.
Presiding over the meeting with officials at Zilla Panchayat (ZP) auditorium here recently, he said that Democracy was not limited to officials but belonged to each and every citizen and only a large active public participation would help in achieving desired result of making the event a grand success.
The event will be held from 8.30 am to 9.30 am and the formation of human chain for about 60 kms will begin from Siddalingapura, on the outskirts of Mysuru city.
Later, the guests and officials will garland the statute of Dr. B.R. Ambedkar located at the Town Hall premises before continuing to build the human chain.
With over 60,000 people required for tomorrow event, DC Lakshmikanth Reddy has requested the officials, school and college students, student hostel inmates, NCC Cadets, NSS volunteers, Scouts and Guides, Pourakarmikas, Gram Panchayat members and general public to take part in the event.
Meanwhile, in a press release, Mysuru Hotel Owners Association President C. Narayanagowda has urged hotel owners and workers to take part in event. Extending support to International Democracy Day celebrations, Narayanagowda has requested the members to join in the formation of human chain near the Jockey Quarters tomorrow between 8.30 am and 9.30 pm.
