Mysore/Mysuru: The Udayagiri Police have arrested a man on charges of strangulating  his wife to death.

Akbar Ali, of Mandya district is the one who is arrested.

Akbar Ali, an auto driver by profession had married Naveeda of Mysuru 13 years ago and the couple had three children. Akbar Ali suffered from an heart attack a few years ago and after his recovery, his family settled down in Rajivnagar here. Later, Naveeda’s family members had lent money to Ali for carrying out automobile business. However he incurred a huge loss.

He also borrowed loans from other sources and the couple frequently quarrelled over this issue as Ali pestered his wife to bring more money. As the quarrel escalated, Ali strangulated his wife Naveeda using a rope at his residence on Sunday. The efforts made to shift her to hospital proved futile, as  she died enroute. Acting on a complaint by Naveeda’s family members, the Udayagiri police  arrested Akbar Ali.
