Mysore/Mysuru: A man has allegedly cheated a woman of Rs. 60 lakh on the pretext of getting her a site and Vijayanagar Police, following an order from the Court, have registered a case.
The woman, who has been cheated, is 50-year-old Vimala Papanna, a resident of Vani Vilas Layout in Vijayanagar 2nd Stage and the accused is 54-year-old M. Ravi, a resident of Thyagarajanagar in Bengaluru, who was earlier the neighbour of Vimala.
Ravi, who had introduced himself as a realtor, had told Vimala to purchase a MUDA site at Vijayanagar 2nd Stage and had even showed the site to her. Ravi had told Vimala that the site owner was in need of money and told her that she has to give Rs. 60 lakh for the site and had taken Rs. 60 lakh from Vimala in April, 2020, but was giving excuses to get the site registered.
Sensing something fishy, Vimala’s husband enquired about the site and came to know that it was under litigation following which Vimala asked Ravi to return the money. Ravi had sought time till Oct. 7, 2021 to return the money.
The complaint states that Ravi suddenly shifted to Bengaluru and has reportedly blocked the mobile number of Vimala. But when Vimala traced his Bengaluru address and asked for her money, Ravi allegedly threatened her with life.
Vijayanagar Police are investigating the case.
