Man cheats woman of Rs. 80,000 on the pretext of helping her withdraw cash in ATM

Mysuru: A woman, who was finding difficulty in withdrawing cash from an ATM was cheated by a man of Rs. 80,000 on the pretext of helping her.

The woman who was cheated has been identified as Sonde Manorama, a resident of Brindavan Layout in city.

On Nov. 7, Manorama went to the Corporation Bank ATM on Temple Road in Vontikoppal to withdraw cash but was finding difficulty in withdrawing the cash. A man, who was present there, saw her and went to her on the pretext of helping her.

He told her that he would help her to check the balance in her account and took her ATM card as well as the PIN number. He then checked her account balance and informed her about the available balance in her account. But while returning her ATM card, the man gave her another card and left from the spot.

Manorama came to know that she has been cheated only when she came to know that Rs. 80,000 has been withdrawn from her account in phases. Manorama then rushed to V.V. Puram Police Station, where she has lodged a complaint.

V.V. Puram Police, who have registered a case in this regard, have launched a hunt to nab the man who cheated Manorama.
