Man found dead with stab injury at Kergalli

Mysore/Mysuru: A 54-year-old man was found dead with stab injury on his neck in Jayapura Police limits and the incident has come to light yesterday morning.

The deceased has been identified as Mahadeva of Kergalli village in the taluk and it is learnt that the incident had taken place on Saturday.

Deceased Mahadeva, who used to work as a painter and a labourer, was said to be addicted to liquor.

As he had not come home since Saturday, his family members had launched a search for him. But on Monday morning, villagers noticed a body covered with ants near the mango grove, opposite to a bar in the village and informed the family members of Mahadeva.

Jayapura Sub-Inspector Suresh Bopanna and staff, who rushed to the spot, conducted mahazar, registered a case and shifted the body to MMC&RI mortuary for post-mortem.

Superintendent of Police (SP) Seema Latkar, Additional SP Dr. Nandini, Dy.SP Poornachandra Tejaswi and Circle Inspector Swarna also visited the spot.

The body was handed over to the family members after post-mortem was conducted and later, the family members performed the last rites.

Family members told the Police that Mahadeva had no enmity with anyone. Sub-Inspector Suresh Bopanna said that a case has been registered and investigation is taken up.
