Periyapatna: A 30-year-old man has been found murdered at the side of a field in Basalapura village in Periyapatna taluk this morning.
The deceased has been identified as Venkatesh, son of Swamy, a resident of the village, who was living with his parents and other family members at the house in the outskirts of the village.
The murder came to light this morning, when Venkatesh’s father Swamy came near the field to throw cow dung after cleaning the cowshed.
Swamy immediately shouted for help attracting villagers, who informed Periyapatna Police. Hunsur Dy.SP Bhaskar Rai, Circle Inspector Siddaiah and SI S.S. Ravikumar rushed to the spot and conducted mahazar besides summoning the Dog Squad to the spot.
The Police are suspecting Venkatesh’s father Swamy behind the murder as blood stains were found in the house, marks of the body being dragged from the house to the field was found and even the clothes Swamy was wearing is having blood stains.
It is also suspected that as Venkatesh used to come home drunk everyday and assault the family members, Swamy depressed over the behaviour of Venkatesh, may have eliminated him.
Periyapatna Police, who have registered a case in this regard, are investigating.
