Mysore/Mysuru: City’s 5th Additional District and Sessions Court has sentenced a man to life imprisonment and has imposed a fine of Rs. 5,000 on him after he was found guilty of killing his wife by strangulating her.
The man who was sentenced for killing his wife Muthu is Chandra, a resident of Chikkamaranahalli in Bettadapura Police limits in Periyapatna taluk.
Details: Chandra, who had married Muthu of Maratikoppal in Periyapatna about 15 years ago, used to doubt her whenever she used to speak with other men and used to hit her, it is learnt.
On May 12, 2018, Muthu, after casting her vote, had gone to some place and when she returned home later, Chandra had assaulted her severely following which Muthu’s mother and her brother had advised Chandra. But on May 14, 2018 at about 4 am, Chandra strangled Muthu with a nylon wire and killed her.
Bettadapura Police, who had registered a case, had begun investigation. The then Circle Inspector Siddaiah had submitted a charge-sheet to the Court. Judge Ashvini Vijay Shiriyannavar, who took up the case, heard arguments from both sides, found Chandra guilty of the crime and sentenced him to life imprisonment.
Public Prosecutor Nagappa C. Nakaman argued on behalf of the Government.
