Mysuru: Ashokapuram Police have arrested a man on charges of stealing a vanity bag of a woman with ATM cards in it and withdrawing cash from various ATMs.
The arrested is 48-year-old D. Ravi alias Credit Card Ravi, a resident of Rajkumar Road in Yaraganahalli in city.
The accused had stolen the bag containing cash, three ATM cards, one Credit Card, a book containing the PIN numbers of the cards and other cards belonging to a woman, who had come to Veene Sheshanna Bhavan in Kuvempunagar for a music programme.
The woman had lodged a complaint at Ashokapuram Police Station in this regard.
Based on the complaint, the Police, who had registered a case, took up the investigation and based on the CCTV footages, took the accused into custody on July 3.
During interrogation, the accused is said to have confessed of committing the crime on Apr. 20 and based on the information provided by the accused, the Police have recovered Rs. 20,900 cash from him.
DCP M. Muthuraj and K.R. Sub-Division ACP N.M. Dharmappa, supervised Ashokapuram Inspector P.M. Siddaraju, ASI Hiranaiah and staff Mahadevaiah, Anand, Raghavendra, Girish and Jagadish in the nabbing and recovery operation.
