Man held for stealing gold ornaments from jewellery shops

Mysuru: A man, who used to enter jewellery shops in the guise of customer and steal gold ornaments, has been arrested by Lashkar Police, who have recovered gold ornaments worth about Rs.3.24 lakh from him.

The accused is 53-year-old Mohammed Salman, a resident of Barpani village at Jaleshwar district in Odisha.

The accused, on July 27, visited a jewellery store on Ashoka Road owned by Rajendra in the guise of a customer and in the pretext of buying gold ornaments, he had stolen jewellery weighing about 109 grams.

After the theft came to light, Rajendra had lodged a complaint at Lashkar Police Station. 

Lashkar Police, who took up the investigation, arrested the accused at a lodge in Bengaluru and have recovered the stolen gold ornaments.

Lashkar Inspector Muniyappa, SI Pooja and staff Parashivamurthy, Pradeep, Lingaraju and Manjunath, took part in the nabbing and recovery operation.
