Man held for raping and marrying minor girl

5 accomplices including woman also arrested

Mysuru: Saraswathipuram Police have arrested a man for allegedly kidnapping, raping and marrying a minor girl besides arresting his five accomplices including a woman under Protection of Children Against Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act and the accused have been remanded to Judicial custody. While the man has been identified as Siddaraju of Janata Nagar in city, his accomplices, who helped him in the crime, have been identified as Arun Kumar of Hassan, Ganesh of Rajajinagar, Madhu of Janata Nagar, Prakash of Palahalli and Siddaraju’s relative Kumari.

The minor girl, who was pursuing her 1st PUC course and Siddaraju were known to each other and were friendly with each other which later turned into love.

Meanwhile, the girl’s mother who came to know about her daughter moving around with Siddaraju, advised her daughter and left her in the house of a relative at a village in Mandya district.

Siddarju, who came to know about this, went to the village in a car along with his friends Arun, Ganesh, Madhu and Prakash and kidnapped the girl. Siddaraju then took the girl to the house of one Kumari, a relative and stayed there for two days during which Siddaraju allegedly raped the minor girl. He (Siddaraju) later brought the girl to Mysuru and married her in a temple.

In the meantime, the girl’s mother had lodged a complaint at Saraswathipuram Police Station. Inspector Nagegowda and staff, acting on a tip off, arrested the accused.                                                                      As Siddaraju had allegedly raped the minor girl, a case under POCSO Act was booked and all the accused were remanded to Judicial custody.
