Hunsur: A 33-year-old man was killed by his drunk friend for trying to stop a fight. The incident took place at Hosaramanahalli in Bilikere hobli of the taluk on Friday.
While the deceased is Shekar, son of Siddanayaka of Hosaramanahalli, the accused is Siddanayaka of the same village.
It is learnt that accused Siddanayaka owed Rs. 1,500 to one Rajesh and on July 15 evening, Rajesh, along with Shekar, went to the house of Siddanayaka to get back the money.
When they went to the house, accused Siddanayaka was drunk and when Rajesh asked him to give back his money, wordy duel ensued between them.
As the issue was going out of control, Shekar intervened and tried to stop the fight during which Siddanayaka in a drunken stupor tried to stab Rajesh and Shekar.
While Rajesh escaped from being stabbed, Shekar was stabbed on the stomach by Siddanayaka and the profusely bleeding Shekar was rushed to K.R. Hospital in Mysuru, where he succumbed to injuries on July 18 (Monday) morning.
Bilikere Police had registered a case and Inspector Chikkaswamy arrested Siddanayaka, who has been remanded to judicial custody.
