He was enraged as his family refused to give him money to buy liquor
Mysore/Mysuru: A pervert addicted to liquor smashed the head of his niece (sister’s daughter) as the family refused to give him money to consume alcohol. The eight-month-old girl child was sleeping when the pervert took a block weighing stone and assaulted the little one. He fled the spot after the crime.
The incident was reported from Vidyaranyapuram Police Station jurisdiction at Kanakagiri near the Government School. 33-year-old Raju, a chronic drunkard, used to sell vegetables for a living. As the income from the trade was not sufficient to fund his vices, he used to demand money from his parents.
He used to often quarrel with his parents and sister Ramya, who was at her parents house for neonatal care, and used to assault them if money was not provided. The family tried many means to counsel Raju but he refused to give up his habit.
Yesterday, Raju returned home early in the afternoon and picked up a fight with his parents and sister, demanding money. Unable to give him money and sustain his abuses and beatings, the parents and sister rushed out of the house.
Enraged by their behaviour, Raju saw Ramya’s kid sleeping on a bed and in a fit of rage, he picked up a weighing stone and smashed the girl child’s head. He later fled the scene. After he left, the unsuspecting family members entered the house only to see the dead child with a blood-soaked head.
A commotion broke loose in the locality as the family was crying for help. Neighbours rushed to the scene and they realised that the child had passed away. They informed Vidyaranyapuram Police. Inspector Raju and team visited the spot and conducted a mahazar to register a murder case.
The child’s father Nagendra was informed and he came with his relatives. Ramya had married Nagendra from Sathanur in Mandya one-and-a-half years back. Ramya had come to her parents house for delivery and had stayed there for some months. She is shell-shocked as her own brother had killed her little child.
Vidyaranyapuram Police are on the lookout for Raju and are searching his likely hideouts. They are making enquiries at his regular liquor joints and eliciting information from his friends.
