Man kills wife’s lover at Nanjangud

Nanjangud: A man allegedly hacked a 39-year-old man with a machete for having illicit relationship with his wife. The incident took place at Hosahalli village in the taluk. While the deceased has been identified as Mahadevaswamy of Hosahalli, the accused is Somaiah, a resident of the same village.

On Saturday afternoon, Somaiah attacked Mahadevaswamy, who was sleeping near the Chavadi at the village. Somaiah, who told Mahadevaswamy that he would kill him for having affair with his wife, took out a machete and brutally assaulted Mahadevaswamy.

Meanwhile, Mahadevaswamy’s  father-in-law Ravi, who saw Mahadevaswamy lying in a pool of blood, rushed him to Nanjangud Govt. Hospital, where first-aid was provided and later shifted to K.R. Hospital in Mysuru and then to a private hospital but Mahadevaswamy succumbed to injuries on Sunday.

Post-mortem was conducted and the body was handed over to the family members. A case has been registered at Nanjangud Rural Police Station.

Dy.SP Govindaraju, Inspector Sunil Kumar and staff visited the spot and conducted preliminary investigation. Steps have been taken to nab accused Somaiah.
