Mysuru: A man committed suicide by jumping off the fourth floor of Sri Jayadeva Institute of Cardiovascular Sciences and Research building inside K.R. Hospital campus yesterday. He has been identified as 36-year-old Manjunath, a resident of Udayagiri.
Manjunath worked as a daily wager at a fruit shop at Udayagiri and had known a woman in the area. She was admitted at the K.R. Hospital due to illness.
Manjunath used to visit her daily and used to take care of her. He used to come there before his work and also used to come in the evening and stay with her at the hospital.
Yesterday afternoon, he jumped from the fourth floor of Sri Jayadeva Institute of Cardiovascular Sciences and Research building. Hospital Medical Superintendent Chandrashekar said that Manjunath had sustained severe injuries on his head, pelvis, chest and upper limb.
Seeing Manjunath atop the building, people on the ground tried to convince him to come down. However, before they could alert Police or the Fire personnel, he jumped off the terrace. Manjunath was rushed to emergency unit by the Hospital staff where he succumbed in the evening. Devaraja Police have registered a case.
