Man practicing rifle shooting in residential area taken into custody

Mysuru: A resident of Vidyaranyapuram here, who was practicing rifle shooting at a house in ruins in Vidyaranyapuram causing tension among the residents, has been taken into custody by Ashokapuram Police.

The man, who was taken into custody, has been identified as Ganesh Prasad. Ganesh, who has a hobby of taking part in rifle shooting competitions, was allegedly practicing for the competition at the ruined house and had fired a few shots a few days ago, causing tension among the residents of the locality.

The practice session was videographed by his friend who had reportedly uploaded the same on a social network site which was telecast by a few news channels following which Vidyaranyapuram Police inspected the spot and conducted an enquiry at Ganesh Prasad’s house besides inspecting his (Ganesh Prasad) Gun License.

During enquiry, Ganesh is said to have told the Police that he has been participating in rifle shooting competitions and was practicing for the competition to be held next month besides stating that he had taken precautionary measures and had used BSA make SBBL rifle for practice.

Meanwhile, Ashokapuram Police, last evening have taken Ganesh Prasad into their custody for questioning and have also registered a case in this regard.
