Mysore/Mysuru: The city’s 6th Additional District and Sessions Court has sentenced a man to life imprisonment until death after he was found guilty of murdering his foster mother.
While the accused has been identified as Martin Devan, the deceased is Susaimary, residents of Guddenahalli village in Periyapatna taluk.
Susaimaray had adopted Martin when he was a baby and took care of him till he reached adulthood and began to work as a painter. Martin, who was addicted to liquor, used to harass Susaimary for money frequently.
On June 4, 2022 at about 4 pm, Martin began to pester his mother for money and when she refused to give, he (Martin) struck her head with a machete and stomped her chest killing her.
The then Bylakuppe Police Inspector B.J. Prakash, who had registered a case, had submitted a charge-sheet to the Court.
Judge P.J. Somashekar, who took up the case, heard the arguments from both sides, found the accused guilty of the crime and sentenced him to life imprisonment until death and imposed a fine of Rs. 5,000.
