Mysore/Mysuru: A city Court has sentenced a man to life imprisonment for brutally stabbing his wife to death.
Jayakrishna of Kayyamballi village in T. Narasipur taluk is the one who has been sentenced.
Jayakrishna, who had married Shivamma, a resident of Triveni Nagar in T. Narasipur town, suspected his wife’s fidelity and used to often quarrel with her.
Shivamma, who was deeply disappointed with the attitude of her husband, had warned of divorcing him. Upset over his wife Shivamma’s warning, Jayakrishna, followed her as she walked to her home at Kayyamballi after returning from T. Narasipur on June 27, 2019, picked up a quarrel with her and brutally stabbed her to death. The then T. Narasipur Circle Inspector Lava, who had arrested Jayakrishna had filed a charge-sheet against him in the Court.
The City’s 7th Additional District and Sessions Court Judge Yashwanth Kumar, who heard the case on Friday, held Jayakrishna guilty and sentenced him to life imprisonment besides imposing a penalty of Rs.10,000.
Public Prosecutor K. Nagaraj argued on behalf of the State.
