Man sentenced to life imprisonment for killing wife

Mysuru: The Fifth District and Sessions Court has sentenced a man to life imprisonment besides imposing a fine of Rs.35,000 for killing his wife. The man who has been sentenced is 45-year-old Doreswamy, a resident of Hadinaru village in Nanjangud.

Doreswamy had married Mangalamma, 18 years ago. As Mangalamma gave birth to a specially abled child, Doreswamy along with his mother Jayamma and brother Nagaraju, had allegedly poured kerosene on Mangalamma and set her on fire thus killing her on May 1, 2013.

Police had registered a case and submitted a charge-sheet against the accused to the Court.

Judge Kuruvathi, who heard the arguments, found Doreswamy guilty of the crime and sentenced him to life imprisonment.

Among the other two accused, Nagaraju has passed away and Jayamma is absconding. Public Prosecutor H.D. Anandkumar argued for the Government.
