Mysuru: Nine years after etching his name in ‘Limca Book of Records’ a grocery shop owner of the city has returned with a bid to create yet another record.
M.L. Shivakumar who owns Lakshman stores on Chamundipuram main road stuffed 20 burning candles into his mouth and held it for 60 seconds to break the record of holding 15 candles for 30 seconds by Dinesh Shivnath Upadhyaya of Goregaon, Mumbai in 2015. Shivakumar performed the feat at Patrakarthara Bhavan (MDJA) in city on Friday.
Shivakumar’s feat has earned him an entry in the ‘Guinness Book of World Records’ in the category of ‘Most burning candles fit in the month’.
He said that he will be sending the documents related to his successful attempt both to Guinness and Limca authorities soon.
Shivakumar who neatly arranged the candles in a vertical form, later tied the same with rubber brands and held it from the butt in his month before lighting the other end with a match stick. To avoid wax droppings, he held his face upwards till it was time to call off.
Shivakumar said that the size of the candle used by him was similar to the candle used by the present record holder and hence there are possibilities of breaking the same.
