Chunchanakatte: A man, who was taking a selfie was drowned in River Cauvery, when he slipped and fell into it at Chunchanakatte in K.R. Nagar taluk yesterday.
The deceased has been identified as Kumar (37), a resident of Chennarayapatna in Hassan district.
Kumar, who had come along with his wife Roopa and 12-year-old son Jnanesh to Srirama Temple in Chunchanakatte, was taking selfi by standing close to the river when he slipped and fell into the river at about 3 pm.
His wife Roopa, who saw the incident, shouted for help which attracted the public, who rushed to the spot for help but Kumar had already drowned.
Soon, Chunchanakatte Sub-Police Station Head Constable Venkateshmurthy and staff Aravind along with Fire and Emergency Service personnel from Chunchanakatte, who rushed to the spot, fished out the body of Kumar.
The body was shifted to the General Hospital, where post-mortem was conducted and the body was handed over to the family members of Kumar.
K.R. Nagar Police, have registered a case in this regard.
