Mysore/Mysuru: A man has allegedly stabbed his brother-in-law to death for harassing his sister daily for money to consume liquor. The incident took place on Sunday night at Koorgalli in the taluk.
The deceased is Kempashetty (40) and the accused is Kendaganna Shetty, who has been arrested by Vijayanagar Police.
Kempashetty had married Kendaganna Shetty’s sister Shashirekha 10 years ago. Kempashetty, who used to work as a labourer for a living used to physically harass his wife daily for money to consume liquor. Though Shashirekha’s parents and village elders had advised him many times to mend his ways, Kempashetty continued with his habit.
On Sunday night, Kempashetty, who came home heavily drunk, began to beat Shashirekha. Kendaganna Shetty, who came to know about this, went to his sister’s house at about 10 pm and reportedly stabbed his brother-in-law. Kempashetty, who was profusely bleeding, was rushed to K.R. Hospital, where the doctors declared him dead.
Vijayanagar Inspector Balakrishna, who has registered a case, has arrested Kendaganna Shetty and has taken Shashirekha and Ramesh, who were at the spot of crime, for enquiry.
The body was shifted to MMC&RI mortuary, where post-mortem was conducted and the body was handed over to the family members.
NR Sub-Division ACP M. Shivashankar and other Police personnel visited the spot.
