Mandya: Mandya Deputy Commissioner S. Aswathi said that the District Administration is gearing for the Kumbh Mela to take place at Triveni Sangama (confluence of Cauvery, Hemavathi and Lakshmanateertha Rivers) near Ambigarahalli in K.R. Pet taluk of the district from Oct.13 to 16.
Speaking at the preparatory meeting yesterday, the DC said that vehicle parking lots have been marked and lighting arrangements made.
In all, 100 counters will be set up for distribution of food to devotees. Expert swimmers will be deployed at the Sangama for any emergencies, along with other security measures in place. Hundreds of Pourakarmikas too will be pressed into service in shifts for maintaining cleanliness at the venue, she added.
Bus services will be available from Somanahalli and CCTV cameras have been installed at vantage points across the venue.
During the meeting, the DC also directed the officials to complete all other works in time and also ensure total success of the Kumbh Mela, which is being held for the second time. She also stressed on the need for leaving no scope for any lapses or shortcomings during the four-day event , which will be attended by many VIPs and other leading personalities from across the State and country.
Assistant Commissioners B.C. Shivananadamurthy and R. Aishwarya, Tahsildar M.V. Roopa, ZP Deputy Secretary Sanjeevappa, Dy.SP Lakshminarayan Prasad and other officials were present.
