Mandya: The Mandya Lok Sabha Constituency, which is going to polls on Apr.26, has as many as 17,79,239 voters.
Announcing this at a press meet at his Office here on Monday, Mandya DC Dr. Kumara, who is also the District Electoral Officer, said that Malavalli Assembly segment has the maximum number of voters in the Constituency with 2,53,628 voters and Melukote Assembly segment has the least with 2,03,398 voters.
Pointing out that there are a total of 2,076 booths across Mandya district, Dr. Kumara said that Apr. 26, the polling day, has been declared a paid holiday. He further said that Malavalli Assembly segment has the highest number of booths with 272, followed by Melukote with 264, Mandya with 264 (inclusive of 2 auxiliary booths), K.R. Pet- 261, Nagamangala with 260, Maddur with 254, K.R. Nagar with 252 and Srirangapatna with 249 booths.
Also, 3,644 voters including 2,569 senior citizens aged over 85 years and 1,075 physically challenged voters will exercise their franchise from their homes, with poll authorities making all arrangements for their voting. However, there will be no postal ballots this time, Dr. Kumara added.
