Bengaluru: The 87th Kannada Sahitya Sammelana should be organised in a meaningful and befitting manner, said Chief Minister Siddaramaiah here yesterday.
Presiding over a preliminary meeting, the CM advised the Kannada Sahitya Parishat representatives to conduct the event, scheduled to be held in Mandya in the first week of June, taking the Mandya District Administration and Pro-Kannada organisations into confidence.
Siddaramaiah also menti-oned that it was important to consider the seniority and literary accomplishments while selecting the Sammelana President.
At the meeting, Kannada Sahitya Parishat President Dr. Mahesh Joshi requested CM Siddaramaiah for a grant of Rs. 30 crore. He told the meeting that 87 achievers will be felicitated and Kannada seminars will be organised during the three-day Conference.
Agriculture and Mandya District In-charge Minister N. Cheluvarayaswamy, Kannada and Culture Minister Shivaraj Tangadagi, MLA P.M. Narendraswamy, CM’s Political Secretary K. Govindaraj, Department of Kannada and Culture Secretary N. Manjula and Director Dr. Dharanidevi Malagathi were present.
