Mangalavadya artistes stage protest against injustice during Dasara

Mysuru: Alleging that Mangalavadya artistes have been rendered injustice in Dasara cultural programmes, members of Karnataka Rajya Savita Mangalavadya Sangeetagarara Jilla haagu Taluku Sangha, staged a demonstration in front of Kote Anjaneyaswamy Temple at the North Gate of the Palace yesterday.

“The State and local artistes are being rendered injustice by denying them opportunities in Dasara cultural programmes. They are not being given a chance in any Dasara platforms, in which single artiste/ group is getting repeated chances. This has resulted in the ignorance of other talented artistes, who are not getting a chance despite repeated pleas,” they alleged.

Charging that the corruption on the part of Kannada & Culture Department and Mysore Palace Board authorities has resulted in injustice to genuine artistes, the protesters demanded that all artistes be given a chance at least in the future Dasara programmes.

They also alleged that the authorities have been regularly failing in their promise of resolving the issue.

Artistes S. Puttaraju, M.N. Srinivasu, Narayan, Harish, Krishna, Ajay, Sridhar and others were present.
