Mysore/Mysuru: Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC) R. Loknath said that ‘Mangalya Bhagya,’ a mass marriage ceremony will be held at the famed Srikanteshwaraswamy temple in Nanjangud on Jan. 31, 2024.
He was presiding over a preliminary meeting on mass marriage at the Deputy Commi-ssioner’s Office in city recently.
The mass marriage is organised under the aegis of the Mysuru District Administration. Eligible brides and bridegrooms can register for this mass marriage before Jan.13, he said.
Applications can be submitted at all Taluk Offices of the District, at A and B grade temples of Muzrai Department and at the DC’s Office in Mysuru.
The officials should thoroughly screen all the applications, Loknath said adding that the brides should have completed 18 years of age while the bridegrooms 21 years of age to wed at the mass marriage.
The staff and officials should check the birth certificates or the SSLC marks card of the brides and grooms, he stated.
Explaining how the applications should be screened before registration, the ADC said that the bridegroom will be paid Rs. 5,000, the bride Rs. 10,000 and Rs. 40,000 for purchase of thali and other wedding articles. Totally, the couple entering into wedlock will get Rs. 55,000, he said adding that the officials must carry out an extensive publicity campaign through hoardings, installation of flex boards at temples, distribution of pamphlets etc.
Officials of Muzrai and other concerned Departments were present at the meeting.
