Mysore/Mysuru: A couple of days after Mayor Shivakumar had directed MCC officials to clear electricity poles of dangling/hanging cables or wires, the Mysuru Cable TV Operators Association has appealed the Mayor to stop the exercise.
The Association members met Mayor Shivakumar at the MCC Main Office on Sayyaji Rao Road and presented him a memorandum urging him to stop the operation in which cables hanging from electricity poles are being cut.
Responding to the plea, Shivakumar said cables are being cut out of a wrong understanding of the issue. Maintaining that he has ordered immediate suspension of the cable clearance operation, he said he has directed for laying of telephone cables underground. But some telecom companies did not heed to the advice and went ahead with their job. Hence, the MCC had ordered cutting of above ground telephone cables.
But the MCC staff cut off TV cables due to a misunderstanding and subsequently, the staff have been suitably advised, the Mayor said while assuring that such acts of negligence won’t happen again.
Later Cable TV Operators Association President Mohan Kumar Gowda said that the MCC’s action had caused distraught among cable TV operators.
Maintaining that cable operators were pushed to a lot of hardship due to MCC’s action, he said now the Mayor has responded positively to our plea.
