Mysuru: Vidyavardhaka College of Engineering, Mysuru, had organised a week-long event to mark International Women’s Day celebrations recently.
Various competitions like rangoli, cooking, antakshari, dumb charades, arm wrestling, bombing the city and poster-design were held as part of the celebrations.
Students and staff actively participated in street-play focusing on dowry-harassment and foeticide. The students and staff were also taught few acts of self-defense by experts.
The celebrations concluded with a valedictory function during which chief guests Mayor B. Bhagyavathi and Prof. Indira of University of Mysore were felicitated. Prizes were distributed for the winners of the contests on the occasion.
Vidyavardhaka Sangha President Gundappa Gowda, Secretary P. Vishwanath, Treasurer S.N. Lakshminarayana, Principal Dr. B. Sadashivegowda and HoD of IS&E Department Dr. A.B. Rajendra were present during the occasion.
